My color was Amaranth. The story of this color begins with the amaranth flower, which envied the rose for its beauty. But the rose was actually jealous of the amaranth because the rose’s petals eventually withered and die but the amaranth never fades. The amaranth became deeply admired, especially by the Aztecs, who used it in their food, art, and religious rituals. When the Spanish arrived, they banned it because it reminded them too much of communion. Still, the amaranth proved to be impossible to erase as it kept reappearing everywhere, symbolizing resilience and immortality.
